There’s a basic rule of thumb to follow when choosing paint sheens: The higher the sheen, the higher the shine — and the higher the shine, the more durable it will be. Flat or Matte paint has no shine; high-gloss is all shine. In between are eggshell, satin, and semi-gloss, each with its own practical and decorative job to do. Flat or Matte finishes cannot be wetted or washed so not a good choice for kitchen and bathrooms. Where-as those rooms are great to have the semi-gloss, high gloss on doors and trim especially because of the durability.
When you’re deciding on which sheen you want to use, remember the higher the sheen, the darker and more intense the color will be. Also, high-gloss paint reflects light — and makes imperfections in your walls more noticeable. So before we apply this paint finish, look at your walls as we may need to do some extra prep work to make them extra smooth.
